Plain English Summary

5/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive requires operators of Boeing 737-200/200C/300/400/500 (line numbers 292–2565) to carry out the technical actions set out in FAA AD 2002-07-10, including replacing certain fuselage lap‑joint repairs and performing high‑frequency eddy‑current inspections. It takes effect 11 July 2002. The directive addresses premature cracking in specified lap‑joint repairs that could lead to rapid decompression; operators and maintenance organisations must do the inspections and repairs and follow the FAA/Boeing instructions, which creates direct compliance cost and operational maintenance effects.
