Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive requires operators of Boeing 737-100/200/300/400/500 series aeroplanes to carry out a one-time, detailed visual inspection of the fastener connecting the spoiler mixer input rod to the torque-tube crank, and to reinstall or replace the fastener if misinstalled. If Boeing Alert Service Bulletin 737-27A1213 has already been done, the AD instead requires replacing the nut, bolt and cotter pin with new or serviceable parts.

Stated purpose: to correct an unsafe condition in the spoiler control system. Practical effects: operators bear inspection and parts costs, schedule downtime, and must follow the Boeing service bulletin instructions enforced by CASA.
