AD/B727/209 - Fuel System Airworthiness Limitations - CANCELLED

This document cancels an older Australian aviation safety rule about fuel systems on Boeing 727 aircraft.

Previously, Australian-registered Boeing 727s had to follow specific local maintenance requirements for fuel systems (called Airworthiness Directive 209). This document scraps those Australian-specific rules.

Why the change? Since 1 October 2009, Australian law automatically treats American safety directives as Australian law for US-made planes. The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a new directive covering the same safety issues, making the old Australian rule redundant.

What this means for aircraft owners and operators:

• You no longer need to follow the old Australian fuel system directive (AD/B727/209)
• You must comply with the US FAA directive (2008-04-10 R1) instead
• This simplifies compliance by using the American safety rules directly rather than maintaining a separate Australian version
