| Background: | The FAA received reports of cracking of the terminal fittings of the spars of the wings. This Directive requires determining if the terminal fittings are made of 7079 aluminium alloy material. If the terminal fittings are found to be 7079 aluminium alloy, repetitive inspections and other actions are required. Undetected stress-corrosion cracking of a terminal fitting could result in failure of a terminal fitting connection and loss of structural integrity of the wing attachment. |
