Plain English Summary

5/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive requires Boeing 727 aeroplanes converted from passenger to freighter under STC SA1368SO, SA1797SO or SA1798SO to comply with the technical actions specified in FAA AD 2002-16-20 (with a revised effective date of 31 October 2002). The directive responds to FAA findings that the main-deck cargo door hinge may not be fail-safe, some door control systems lack adequate safety, and the cargo barrier may not meet emergency-landing strength; affected operators must carry out the prescribed inspections/modifications.
