Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This directive makes FAA AD 99-23-13 mandatory for Australian-registered Boeing 727-200s, requiring operators and maintenance organisations to perform the specified inspections and corrective actions on structures around the No.1 cargo door.

It responds to fatigue cracking that could cause rapid decompression and reduced structural integrity; operators bear costs for obtaining the FAA/Boeing documents, recurring inspections, and any repairs or downtime.
