legislative instrument

Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This instrument requires operators of Boeing 727 series aircraft to visually inspect each escape-slide release cable and replace any cable with one or more broken strands (or broken cable) before further flight. An initial inspection must be done within the specified window (or relied on if done recently), then repeated at intervals not exceeding 12 months. It affects aircraft owners/operators and maintenance providers, who bear inspection and replacement costs, and aims to prevent slide-release failures that could block emergency exits.
