AD/B-2/8 - Tail Cone Reinforcement - CANCELLED

What this document does

This cancels an old safety rule (Airworthiness Directive B-2/8) that required owners of Brantly B-2 series helicopters to strengthen the aircraft's tail section.

Background

The original rule was issued in 1960 and required immediate modification of the tail cone to better distribute loads from the stabiliser (the part that keeps the helicopter steady). Owners had to follow the manufacturer's Service Bulletin No. 3A to make the changes.

Why it's being cancelled

Because the rule required compliance "forthwith" (immediately) back in 1960, regulators assume every affected helicopter has already been modified. Since the work is effectively universal, the rule is no longer needed.

What this means

If you own or operate a Brantly B-2 helicopter, you no longer need to track or comply with this specific directive. The cancellation took effect on 4 June 2009.
