AD/AUS/8 - Lift Strut - CANCELLED

This document officially cancels an old aircraft safety rule (Airworthiness Directive) that required owners of Auster/Beagle A.61 series aeroplanes to inspect the lift struts (the structural metal supports that help hold the wings up) for internal corrosion.

Why it existed: The original rule was issued in 1950 for aircraft whose struts weren't sealed during manufacturing, as moisture could get inside and cause dangerous corrosion.

Why it's cancelled: Because the rule required immediate compliance back in 1950, all affected aircraft would have been inspected and fixed decades ago. The safety issue has been resolved on all remaining aircraft, so the rule is no longer needed.
