AD/AUS/20 - Front Seat Restraint Installation - CANCELLED

What this document does

This officially cancels an old aviation safety rule (called an Airworthiness Directive) that required shoulder harnesses to be installed in the front seats of specific light aircraft (Auster/Beagle A.61 series) built before 1967.

Who it affects

Owners and operators of Auster/Beagle A.61 series aircraft. The cancellation means they no longer need to follow this specific directive, but must instead comply with a newer, broader safety rule (AD/GENERAL/74 Amendment 1).

Why it matters

Safety standards are updated over time. This 1972 rule requiring upper torso restraints (shoulder straps) has been absorbed into a more comprehensive, modern regulation. The cancellation removes redundant requirements from the rulebook, ensuring pilots and mechanics follow current consolidated standards rather than outdated individual directives.
