Plain English Summary

5/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive requires owners/operators of Auster/Beagle A.61 series aeroplanes to install a tailplane safety tube and split pin and to inspect tailplane attachment stubs — and, for early brazed tailplanes (serials before AUS 697 GD/W and AUS 698 GD/W), the root ends of leading edge tubes — for cracking. The Civil Aviation Safety Authority sets specific compliance dates and recurring inspection intervals (model‑dependent hours or a two‑year calendar maximum). Owners/operators pay for removals, inspections, repairs and any required modifications.
