Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This document cancels a previous aviation safety rule that applied to Eurocopter AS 355 (Twin Ecureuil) helicopters.

What it does:

Revokes (cancels) Airworthiness Directive (AD) 355/78 Amendment 1, which previously required specific maintenance or inspection actions for hoist operator's belt snap hooks on these helicopters.
The cancellation took effect on 9 February 2010.

Why it matters:

Australian helicopter operators and maintenance providers no longer need to follow this specific Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) directive.
The requirement has been replaced by a European safety regulation (EASA AD 2010-0014) issued on 26 January 2010. Australia now recognizes this European directive, avoiding duplicate rules.

Who is affected:

Owners and operators of Eurocopter AS 355 series helicopters equipped with hoist systems.
