This airworthiness directive requires owners/operators of Eurocopter AS 355 E/F/F1/F2 helicopters fitted with an unmodified “Jolliet” emergency locator transmitter (ELT) antenna to modify that antenna in accordance with Eurocopter Service Bulletin AS 355 No 25.33 (2 June 1992). The work must be completed within 400 flight hours from 17 September 1992 or by 1 April 1993. The stated purpose is to increase vibration resistance and reduce the risk of the antenna becoming lost in flight, which creates a maintenance cost and scheduling obligation for operators.
