Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This mandatory safety order requires owners/operators of Eurocopter AS 355 (E, F, F1, F2, N) helicopters to inspect the rubber bearings in the rear tail-rotor drive shaft per Eurocopter Service Bulletin AS 355 No. 05-02 Rev 4. The bearings can fail in normal flight, risking loss of control. Compliance is required by 30 June 1993; this bulletin replaces a prior French directive and explicitly mandates rubber-bearing checks.
