Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does: This is a mandatory safety directive requiring immediate inspection of main rotor sleeve beams on specific Eurocopter helicopters when warning signs appear.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Eurocopter AS 355 (Twin Ecureuil) series helicopters in Australia.

What you must do:

If you discover a sudden or repetitive blade tracking problem (where the rotor blades aren't rotating in the same plane), you must inspect the main rotor sleeve beams before the next flight.
The inspection must follow the procedures set out in Aerospatiale Telex Service Bulletin 01.12.

Why this matters: The manufacturer identified cracking in the blade attachment area of these sleeve beams. This is a critical safety issue—if these cracks progress unnoticed, they could cause main rotor failure and catastrophic loss of the aircraft. This directive acts as an emergency safeguard to catch the problem before it becomes deadly.
