AD/ARRIEL/19 Amdt 1 - Fuel Metering Unit Acceleration Controller Axle - CANCELLED

This document cancels a previous aviation safety requirement that applied to certain helicopter engines.

What it does:

• Officially scraps Airworthiness Directive AD/ARRIEL/19 Amdt 1 effective 24 November 2009
• Removes a mandatory inspection/repair requirement for the fuel metering unit acceleration controller axle on Turbomeca Arriel series turbine engines (commonly used in helicopters like the Eurocopter AS350)

Who it affects:

• Owners and operators of aircraft with Turbomeca Arriel engines
• Maintenance organisations servicing these engines

Why it matters: The Australian safety rule is no longer needed because the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has issued a new directive (EASA AD 2009-0246) that covers the same safety issue. Australian operators must now follow the European directive instead of this cancelled Australian one. This is part of how Australia recognises foreign safety standards to avoid duplicate regulations.
