Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This directive requires owners/operators of Aermacchi–Lockheed AL 60 aeroplanes that lack Modification MB‑L‑001 to carry out dye‑penetrant inspections for cracks in the engine mounting plates and to complete a one‑off manufacturer‑prescribed modification. Inspections must begin immediately (within 10 hours) and recur every 100 hours until the modification is done; the modification must be completed before 1,200 hours total time.

It matters because it replaces indefinite recurring inspections with a mandatory retrofit, shifting ongoing inspection costs into a one‑off compliance burden enforced on operators.
