Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this means:

This is a mandatory safety order requiring the immediate removal of a specific component—the AN 6207 check valve—from the landing gear selector valve on certain Twin Commander aircraft.

Who is affected:

Owners and operators of Twin Commander (also marketed as Gulfstream/Rockwell/Aero Commander) 500, 600, and 700 series aeroplanes
Only applies to aircraft with serial numbers 1 through 580

What you must do:

Remove the AN 6207 check valve from the landing gear selector valve system immediately ("forthwith" means without delay)
Follow the technical instructions in Aero Commander Service Bulletin No. 44 (an external maintenance document)

Why this matters: This directive addresses a specific safety defect with the check valve that could compromise the landing gear system. Until this action is completed, the aircraft is considered unairworthy and cannot legally fly. Compliance is mandatory under Part 39 of the Civil Aviation Regulations.
