What this is

This is an Airworthiness Directive (AD) — a mandatory safety rule issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) that legally binds aircraft owners and operators.

What it requires Operators must inspect the emergency exit latch (the mechanism that locks and unlocks the emergency door) on specific Twin Commander aircraft to ensure it works properly.

Who it affects Only four specific aircraft models:

680FL
680FL(P)
680T
680V

And only those with serial numbers between 1261 and 1700.

Compliance deadline The inspection must be completed within 100 hours of flight time after 22 February 1968.

Why this matters Emergency exits must open instantly during an emergency evacuation. A faulty latch could trap passengers inside the aircraft.

How to comply Follow the technical instructions in Aero Commander Service Letter No. 205 to perform the inspection.
