Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What it is: A mandatory aviation safety rule (called an Airworthiness Directive) issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) that requires immediate action on specific aircraft.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Twin Commander aircraft (models 500, 560E, and 680E) with serial numbers 671 through 765.

What you must do: Immediately follow the instructions in the manufacturer's document "Aero Commander Service Letter No. 80" regarding insulation for battery relay terminals. "Forthwith" means you must comply right away before the next flight, or as soon as practicable if the aircraft is already grounded.

Why it matters: This prevents electrical short circuits or fire risks caused by poor insulation around battery connections. Operating the aircraft without completing this fix makes it unairworthy and illegal to fly.
