Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this is: A mandatory safety order requiring immediate modification of the rudder bellcrank assembly on specific light aircraft.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of S.L. Industries Commander 100 Series and Volair 10 Series aeroplanes with serial numbers between 013 and 098.

What you must do: Immediately modify the rudder bellcrank assembly (the mechanical linkage that transfers pilot pedal input to the rudder) according to the instructions in Aero Commander Service Bulletin 1006. The directive uses the term "forthwith," which means compliance is required immediately without delay.

Why it matters: This modification addresses a safety defect in the rudder control system. The rudder is essential for controlling the aircraft's yaw (left-right movement) and maintaining directional stability, particularly during takeoff, landing, and engine-out situations. A faulty bellcrank assembly could lead to reduced or lost rudder control.
