Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does: This directive mandates the replacement of a specific aircraft part — the "flap quadrant" (a mechanical component that controls the wing flaps used during takeoff and landing) — on certain light aircraft.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of S.L. Industries Commander 100 Series and Volair 10 Series aeroplanes with serial numbers between 026–360 and 5001–5100.

What you must do:

If your aircraft had already flown more than 300 hours by 30 April 1973, you must replace the part within 100 hours of flying time after that date.
For all other affected aircraft, you must replace the part before the aircraft reaches 400 total hours of flying time.

Why it matters: This prevents potential mechanical failure of the flap control system, ensuring pilots can safely adjust wing flaps during critical phases of flight.
