AD/AC-100/1 - General Modifications - CANCELLED

This Airworthiness Directive (AD) officially cancels a 40-year-old aircraft safety rule.

What the old rule required: Back in 1968, the original directive required owners of specific S.L. Industries Commander 100 Series and Volair 10 Series aeroplanes to make modifications to:

• Flap settings – the wing panels that help control lift during takeoff and landing
• Aileron control stops – mechanisms that limit how far the control surfaces move to prevent the aircraft from rolling too steeply

Why it's being cancelled: The original rule demanded immediate compliance back in 1968. By 2008, every affected aircraft would have already been modified, making the rule redundant.

What this means: As of 28 August 2008, owners and operators of these specific aircraft types no longer need to worry about complying with the original 1968 directive. The safety modifications have become standard, and the formal requirement is now removed.
