AD/AA-5/18 - Circuit Protection Separation - Modification - CANCELLED

This document officially scraps an outdated aircraft safety rule. What it is: An Airworthiness Directive (AD) — a mandatory safety order issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) under Commonwealth aviation law. What it does: Cancels directive AD/AA-5/18, originally issued in 1977, which required owners of Gulfstream/Grumman American AA-5 series aeroplanes to modify their electrical circuit protection systems. Why it matters: The original rule required aircraft owners to complete modifications within 100 flight hours after February 1977. Because that deadline passed over 30 years ago, CASA cancelled the directive in June 2009 on the basis that all affected aircraft would long since have been modified. Who is affected: Owners and operators of AA-5 series aircraft, though in practice the cancellation merely removes an obsolete requirement that was complied with decades ago.
