This document cancels an old aircraft safety rule (an Airworthiness Directive) that applied to Gulfstream AA-1 series aeroplanes.

What the old rule required: Issued in 1972, the directive required owners to install a clear plastic (perspex) cover over the glass tube of the fuel quantity indicator to prevent damage. Owners had to comply within 100 hours of flying time after July 1972.

Why it is being cancelled: Because the modification was mandatory decades ago, every affected aircraft has already been fitted with the protective cover. The rule is now redundant and has been formally cancelled as of 4 June 2009.
