Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this is: A mandatory safety inspection rule for specific light aircraft.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Gulfstream AA-1 series aeroplanes built within a specific serial number range (AA1A-0095 to AA1A-0323). These are small aircraft weighing less than 5,700 kg.

What it requires: Before the aircraft can be issued a Certificate of Airworthiness (the official government permit allowing it to fly), the bearing supports for the control surfaces must be inspected according to the procedures in American Aviation Service Bulletin No. 126.

Why it matters: Control surfaces are the moving parts (like ailerons and elevators) that pilots use to steer and stabilise the aircraft. Faulty bearing supports could cause these surfaces to jam or fail, potentially leading to loss of control. This inspection ensures the hardware is safe before the aircraft enters or returns to service.
