AD/AA-1/5 - Carburettor - Inspection - CANCELLED

This document cancels an old aircraft safety rule.

What it was: Back in 1972, the aviation regulator required owners of specific light aircraft (Gulfstream/Grumman American/ American Aviation AA-1 series) to inspect their engine carburettors for fuel leaks caused by cracks in the fuel bowl.

What this does: It officially scraps that inspection requirement effective 4 June 2009.

Why: The original rule required immediate compliance ('forthwith'), and 37 years is more than enough time for every affected aircraft to have been inspected. Since the safety issue has been addressed across the fleet, the rule is no longer needed.

Who cares: Owners and maintenance crews of these specific aircraft models no longer need to perform this particular carburettor check.
