| This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 30 October 2006. | |
| Background: | The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has advised that the magnetic variation table which are implemented in the above Honeywell and Northrop Grumman ADIRUs are obsolete in certain countries.Studies have shown that, for a given airport, a difference greater than 3° between the magnetic heading and the runway heading (QFU) could lead to an unsafe situation during the phases of Cat 2 or Cat 3 automatic landing and roll out. This Directive mandates the operational restriction introduced by the AFM TR 2.05.00/67 and AFM TR 2.05.00/68. The A330 AFM TRs provide the list of affected airport and the date from which the «AUTOLAND» and «ROLL-OUT» are prohibited. |
