Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive (AD) mandates safety inspections for specific Airbus A319, A320, and A321 aircraft to address potential structural fatigue in the centre wing area.

What it requires: Operators must inspect and potentially repair the pressurised floor fittings at Frame 36 (a structural component in the middle of the aircraft wing/body junction) following the technical procedures in Airbus Service Bulletin A320-57-1028.

When it must be done:

Initial deadline: Before the aircraft reaches 16,000 flight cycles (one takeoff and landing counts as one cycle)
Ongoing: Repeated at intervals specified in the Service Bulletin

Why it matters: The directive prevents catastrophic structural failure by detecting fatigue damage (cracking from repeated pressurisation cycles) early.

How it ends: If operators fully implement Service Bulletin A320-57-1029 (likely a permanent design fix), this recurring inspection requirement no longer applies.
