Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does: This is a mandatory safety order for airlines operating specific Airbus aircraft (A319, A320, and A321 series).

Who it affects: Airlines and operators of the affected Airbus models listed in Airbus Service Bulletin A320-32-1094.

What must be done: Operators must update the software in the aircraft's Brake/Steering Control Unit before 23 July 1993. This involves following the technical instructions in two specific manufacturing bulletins—one from Airbus and one from Messier-Bugatti (the parts supplier).

Why it matters: Without this software update, the nose wheels could rotate 90 degrees sideways during landing. This was already happening and causing significant damage to the wheels, creating safety risks and expensive repairs. The updated software prevents this dangerous malfunction.
