Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does: This Airworthiness Directive requires owners and operators of specific Airbus aircraft (A319, A320, and A321 models with serial numbers below 222) to take action on the pitot probe hoses.

Who it affects: Airlines and operators flying these specific older Airbus models in Australian airspace.

What you must do: Follow the instructions in Airbus Service Bulletin A320-34-1024. This involves inspecting or replacing hoses connected to the pitot probes—the external tubes that measure airspeed—to prevent water from accumulating inside them.

Why it matters: Water trapped in pitot probe hoses can cause incorrect airspeed readings, which creates serious safety risks during flight. The work must be completed before 31 March 1992.

Note: This requirement aligns with a French aviation safety directive (DGAC A/D 91-227-021(B)).
