What must be done Modify the emergency escape slides at doors 2 and 3 (the middle doors) following the technical instructions in Airbus Service Bulletin A320-25-1199.

Deadline Within 30 days of 5 June 2008.

Why this matters If an escape slide detaches during flight, it could:

Damage the aircraft structure
Fall on populated areas or property below, causing injury or damage

This directive implements a French aviation safety notice (DGAC AD 98-292-117(B)) since Airbus manufactures these aircraft in Europe.

Applicability:	All Airbus A321 aircraft without Airbus modification 27036 or without Airbus Service Bulletin A320-25-1199.
Requirement:	Modify the escape slide at doors 2 and 3 in accordance with instructions given in Airbus Service Bulletin A320-25-1199.Note: DGAC AD 98-292-117(B) refers.
Compliance:	Within 30 days of the Effective Date of this Airworthiness Directive.
	This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 5 June 2008.
Background:	The loss of an emergency escape slide in flight could lead to damage to the aircraft structure and the overflown territories.
