Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority requires owners/operators of Agusta A109A and A109AII helicopters to implement the maintenance actions in Bollettino Tecnico 109‑71 by 30 March 1989 to address a failure mode where excessive nut torque led to aluminium washer failure and wheel loss. This mandates operators (and their chosen maintenance providers) to schedule and pay for the prescribed inspections/repairs, causing downtime and compliance costs to mitigate the safety risk.
