Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

These 1929 by‑laws, made by the Federal Capital Commission for early Canberra, let hotel and boarding‑house operators serve a written notice ordering a guest to leave, make refusal a criminal offence punishable by a £20 fine, and authorise police to remove the person and belongings immediately after the notice expires. The rules created a summary eviction route that let proprietors bypass ordinary court tenancy procedures.
