#### 86 Scrutiny of votes at close of poll 86 Scrutiny of votes at close of poll > At the close of the poll, a deputy electoral officer must, in the presence of any scrutineers who choose to be present, but no others— > > > (a) unseal the ballot-boxes containing ballot-papers of electors voting at the polling place, and > > > (b) remove those ballot-papers from the ballot-boxes, and > > > (c) examine each ballot-paper and reject those which are informal, and > > > (d) proceed to count the votes and ascertain the number of first preference votes recorded for each candidate.
