55 Notice of election of New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council
> > (1) The returning officer is, as soon as practicable after becoming aware that an election of councillors is required to be held under the Act, to give notice of the election by causing it to be published in a manner that, in the opinion of the returning officer, is appropriate to cause the notice to come to the attention of persons eligible to vote in the election.

> > (2) The notice must state the following—
> >
> > > (a) that an election is to be held for a councillor to represent the Region,
> >
> > > (b) that a person is entitled to vote at the election if the person is a voting member of a Local Aboriginal Land Council within the Region,
> >
> > > (c) that a person is, however, only entitled to cast a vote in respect of the Local Aboriginal Land Council area for which the person is a voting member,
> >
> > > (d) how information concerning the procedure for being listed on a roll can be accessed,
> >
> > > (e) that the roll of a Local Aboriginal Land Council may be inspected at the office of the Council during normal office hours,
> >
> > > (f) the date on which the roll for the election will be closed.

> > (3) The date fixed for the closing date of the roll must be not earlier than 14 clear days and not later than 21 clear days after the date notice of the election was given.
