#### 235 Registrar may issue compliance directions 235 Registrar may issue compliance directions > > (1) Any person or body may request the Registrar to issue a direction to an Aboriginal Land Council or an officer of an Aboriginal Land Council requiring the Council or officer to comply with a specified provision or provisions of this Act or of any regulations or rules made under this Act. > > > (2) If the Registrar is satisfied that an Aboriginal Land Council or an officer of an Aboriginal Land Council has failed to comply, or is not complying, with a specified provision or provisions of this Act or of any regulations or rules made under this Act, the Registrar may issue a direction to the Council or officer requiring the Council or officer to comply with that provision or those provisions within a time stated in the direction. > > > (3) The Registrar is not to issue a direction under this Part in relation to any matter if— > > > > > (a) the matter could constitute an offence under this Act or any other law, or > > > > > (b) provision is made for the determination of the matter under another section of this Act. > > > (4) In this section— > > > > officer, in relation to an Aboriginal Land Council, includes— > > > > > (a) for a Local Aboriginal Land Council—the chief executive officer of the Council, and > > > > > (b) for the New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council—the Chief Executive Officer of the Council. > > **s 235:** Ins 2001 No 118, Sch 1 \[17\].
