23 Return of secret or sacred objects by other entities Atraditional owner of a secret or sacred Aboriginal object held or controlled by a university, museum or other institution may— S. 23(a) amended by No. 11/2016 s. 21(2). (a) on the initiative of the traditional owner, or in conjunction with one or more other Aboriginal persons, negotiate directly with the university, museum or other institution; or S. 23(b) amended by No. 11/2016 s. 21(3). (b) ask the Minister to negotiate with the university, museum or other institution on behalf of the traditional owner— for the return of the secret or sacred Aboriginal object.
