This short legal instrument is essentially legislative housekeeping. It cancels an old 2002 rule about 'misbehaviour' by members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC).

Background: ATSIC was an elected body that represented Indigenous Australians until it was abolished in 2005. After it was shut down, the old 2002 determination about misbehaviour by ATSIC members became obsolete—like having rules about conduct for a club that no longer exists.

Revokes (cancels) the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (Misbehaviour) Determination 2002
Self-destructs immediately after doing so—it expires at the end of the very day it starts, as if it had been cancelled by another instrument

This ensures the old, redundant rules are formally removed from the statute books without leaving this new instrument cluttering up the law indefinitely.

I, JENNY MACKLIN, Minister for Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs and Minister for Disability Reform, acting under subsection 4A(1) of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Act 2005, REVOKE the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (Misbehaviour) Determination 2002.

This Determination commences on the day after it is registered.

This Determination ceases to have effect at the end of the day on which this Determination commences, as if this Determination had been revoked by another legislative instrument.
