AASB 1053 establishes two tiers of Australian Accounting Standards for entities that prepare general purpose financial statements (GPFS):
The Standard sets who must use which Tier, what choices entities have, and detailed rules for moving to GPFS for the first time or switching between Tiers (see paragraphs 11–23 and Appendices A–E).
