This is a straightforward procedural decision where the Industrial Relations Commission of New South Wales made a new award replacing a 1996 award. The new award was agreed upon after 12 months of negotiations between the Health and Research Employees' Association and The Richmond Fellowship. It covers 30 employees across four locations, includes salary increases and updated leave provisions, and will operate until the end of 2000.

INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS COMMISSION OF NEW SOUTH WALES
THE RICHMOND FELLOWSHIP OF NEW SOUTH WALES (STATE) AWARD - 1999
Application by The Health and Research Employees' Association of New South Wales for a new award.
HER HONOUR: The Health and Research Employees' Association of New South Wales, represented this morning by Mr Coquillon together with Mr David Lipman, has applied for an award entitled The Richmond Fellowship of New South Wales (State) Award - 1999.
That award replaces an earlier award which has remained in existence by force of the Act. Mr Coquillon this morning also represents Mr Kong, the Chief Executive Officer of The Richmond Fellowship by consent.
The award covers about 30 employees who are located in four locations - Glebe, Penrith, Balmain and Drummoyne, with Glebe being the Head Office.
The form has changed from the previous document to make it easier to locate specific issues within the award. The salaries and wages have been updated, there being two increases at 5 per cent. By administrative action, the initial payment will be made and back dated to 1 January 1999. Test case provisions as to personal carer's leave and parental leave have been picked up.
The award has been the subject of negotiations between the parties for more than 12 months. When agreement was reached between them it was taken to the Board of Councillors of The Richmond Fellowship who resolved to approve the draft award.
The award complies with the requirements of the Industrial Relations Act 1996 in that, for instance, it includes a disputes procedure and it is operative for a period longer than 12 months.
The Commission makes The Richmond Fellowship of New South Wales (State) Award - 1999 in terms of Ex.1, to operate until the 31 December 2000. The award operates as of today's date, 23 April 1999.
By agreement between the parties, this award rescinds and replaces The Richmond New South Wales (State) Award made 16 May 1996 and all variations thereof.
