CWDS Criminal law - particular offences - offences against the person homicide - murder - appeal against conviction of the appellant, by verdict of a jury, of the crime of murder - in summing up lies told by appellant not dealt with in a definitive manner - no direction given on the manner in which lies could and should not be taken into account. Intoxication - direction in summing up did not adequately deal with the effect intoxication may have had on the intention of the appellant. Learned trial judge in summing up gave his personal assessment of the evidence - the presentation of the summing up was not balanced.
