1 The plaintiff is a young woman of some 26 years. She was born and raised in a small country town in northern Victoria. The defendant and his wife were, from the early 1970s until approximately the mid 1990s, neighbours and friends of the parents of the plaintiff. In this proceeding the plaintiff seeks damages from the defendant, including exemplary damages, claiming that, between approximately 1984 and 1991, he sexually assaulted her on a number of occasions.
