Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia v Gal [2022] SACAT 118
The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia referred a complaint to the Tribunal alleging that the respondent, a registered nurse, had committed professional misconduct. The first allegation was withdrawn by the complainant and the second allegation was heard by the Tribunal on the basis of agreed facts and an agreement that the facts constitute professional misconduct. The course of conduct arose from the respondent failing to appropriately mange her relationship with a vulnerable patient and to ensure his proper care and welfare. The parties made a joint submission as to the disciplinary sanctions that should be imposed. The Tribunal imposed the proposed sanctions with a minor variation.
