Dr Ghosh, a doctor, had appealed conditions on her medical registration. The Court of Appeal sent the case back for a new hearing. A hearing was set for December 2020 to decide whether to permanently stop the appeal (because she had been deregistered in separate proceedings) or hold a new hearing. Dr Ghosh asked to postpone the December hearing because her father had died and she had other court matters. The Medical Council wanted the hearing to go ahead. The Tribunal decided to grant the postponement because: (1) Dr Ghosh had good reasons (her father's death and COVID travel restrictions); (2) she had filed an appeal in the separate deregistration proceedings, so it made sense to wait for that outcome before deciding what to do with this case; and (3) there was no risk to public safety because she was no longer registered anyway. New deadlines were set for written submissions and a new directions hearing in February 2021.
