### sec.486 Monitoring and assessment of WorkCover The Minister may delegate the Minister’s powers under section 414 to— for any provision of section 414 —the chief executive of the department (the department chief executive ) or an appropriately qualified public service officer of the department; or for section 414 (1) (a) or (b) —a person appropriately qualified to assess the matters mentioned in section 414 (1) (a) . The Minister may ask the department chief executive to investigate, and report to the Minister on, any matter relating to WorkCover. For an investigation under this section of a matter relating to WorkCover, the department chief executive may give WorkCover written directions. Without limiting subsection (3) , the department chief executive may direct WorkCover— to give to the department chief executive any information about WorkCover that the department chief executive considers necessary or desirable in connection with the investigation; and to permit persons authorised by the department chief executive to have access to specified documents about WorkCover that the department chief executive considers necessary or desirable in connection with the investigation; and to take steps that the department chief executive considers necessary or desirable for the purposes of the investigation. WorkCover must ensure that any direction given to it under this section is complied with. The department chief executive may delegate to an officer of the department or another person the chief executive’s powers under this section, including powers delegated to the chief executive under subsection (1) (b) .
