### sec.164 Power to require name and address
An authorised officer may require a person to state the person’s name and residential or business address if the officer—
finds the person committing, or about to commit, an offence against this Act; or
finds the person in circumstances that lead, or has information that leads, the officer to reasonably suspect the person has committed an offence against this Act.
When making the requirement, the officer must warn the person it is an offence to fail to state the person’s name or address unless the person has a reasonable excuse.
The officer may also require the person to give evidence of the correctness of the stated name or address if, in the circumstances, it would be reasonable to expect the person to—
be in possession of evidence of the correctness of the stated name and address; or
otherwise be able to give the evidence.

(sec.164-ssec.2) When making the requirement, the officer must warn the person it is an offence to fail to state the person’s name or address unless the person has a reasonable excuse.
(sec.164-ssec.3) The officer may also require the person to give evidence of the correctness of the stated name or address if, in the circumstances, it would be reasonable to expect the person to— be in possession of evidence of the correctness of the stated name and address; or otherwise be able to give the evidence.
- (a) finds the person committing, or about to commit, an offence against this Act; or
- (b) finds the person in circumstances that lead, or has information that leads, the officer to reasonably suspect the person has committed an offence against this Act.
- (a) be in possession of evidence of the correctness of the stated name and address; or
- (b) otherwise be able to give the evidence.
