### sec.54 Monitoring and assessment of board
The Minister may ask an appropriately qualified officer of the department or another appropriately qualified person to investigate, and report to the Minister on, any matter relating to the board.
The person may give written directions to the board for the investigation.
Without limiting subsection (2) , the person may direct the board—
to give to the person any information about the board that the person considers necessary or desirable in connection with the investigation; and
to permit other persons authorised by the person to have access to specified records and other documents about the board that the person considers necessary or desirable in connection with the investigation; and
to take steps the person considers necessary or desirable for the investigation.
The board must ensure that any direction given to it under this section is complied with.
Before reporting on the investigation to the Minister, the person must consult with the board about the report.

- (c) to take steps the person considers necessary or desirable for the investigation.
