### sec.20 Discrimination by industrial, professional, trade or business organisation in membership area
An organisation of workers, employers, or people who carry on an industry, profession, trade or business must not discriminate—
in any variation of the terms of membership of the organisation; or
in denying or limiting access to any benefit arising from the membership; or
in depriving a person of membership; or
by treating a person unfavourably in any way in connection with the membership.
Subsection (1) does not apply to discrimination on the basis of trade union activity if the Industrial Relations Act 2016 , chapter 12 , part 9 , division 2 or part 10 applies.

(sec.20-ssec.1) An organisation of workers, employers, or people who carry on an industry, profession, trade or business must not discriminate— in any variation of the terms of membership of the organisation; or in denying or limiting access to any benefit arising from the membership; or in depriving a person of membership; or by treating a person unfavourably in any way in connection with the membership.
(sec.20-ssec.2) Subsection (1) does not apply to discrimination on the basis of trade union activity if the Industrial Relations Act 2016 , chapter 12 , part 9 , division 2 or part 10 applies.
- (a) in any variation of the terms of membership of the organisation; or
- (b) in denying or limiting access to any benefit arising from the membership; or
- (c) in depriving a person of membership; or
- (d) by treating a person unfavourably in any way in connection with the membership.
