### sec.587 Acting commissioner
The Governor in Council may appoint a person to act as commissioner—
during a vacancy in the office; or
during any period, or during any periods, when the commissioner is absent from duty or from the State or is, for another reason, unable to perform the duties of the office.
The person appointed to act as commissioner must be eligible for appointment as commissioner.
(sec.587-ssec.1) The Governor in Council may appoint a person to act as commissioner— during a vacancy in the office; or during any period, or during any periods, when the commissioner is absent from duty or from the State or is, for another reason, unable to perform the duties of the office.
(sec.587-ssec.2) The person appointed to act as commissioner must be eligible for appointment as commissioner.
